Indian film playback singer was born on August 4, 1929 and he was also an actor, director, producer, composer and lyrists. He was a fantastic achiever who achieved success in every field and after his death a lot of people are trying to follow his footsteps. New singers and actors want to copy his style and have a wish to rule over Indian Film Industry like him. During his career he worked with fantastic stars like Mukesh and Mohammed Rafi.

One of the leading singers of industry Lata Mageshkar also wished him and called him a fantastic and versatile singer. Kishore Kumar was not only a fantastic artist he was also a fantastic and loving person.

Kishore Kumar, the well-known Bollywood playback singer and actor was born on August 4, 1929. His original name is Abhas Kumar Ganguly. Kishore Kumar’s singing wasn’t limited to just Hindi, he sang songs in different Indian languages like Bengali, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Malyalam and Oriya.

Kishore Kumar married four times. His first wife was Ruma Ghosh, then he married the well-known film actress Madhubala, who died after nine years of their marriage due to some deadly disease. His two sons, Amit Kumar and Sumit Kumar, both have followed their father’s footsteps while choosing their career. Amit is giving his voice for playback since many years now, whereas, Sumit has recently launched himself in the Hindi film industry.

Together they have given hits like Dekha Ek Khwab To, and Gum Hai Kisi Ke Pyar Mein — and on Kishor Kumar’s 81st birth anniversary, legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar remembered him as a multi-talented artist.

Priyadarshan-Akshay Kumar combo ‘KHATTA MEETHA‘ did not deliver as to what was promised. KHATTA MEETHA was supposed to be a movie based on a common man’s life. Satire should have been its soul purpose. Khatta Meetha Hindi MOvie MP3 Song

But the movie has disappointed its viewers in a huge way. The main points why it said it was Satirical was because it was criticizing government officials for being corrupt and encouraging bribing. The movie lacks tale. And so has Priyadarshan’s every other flick.

KHATTA MEETHA is a stuffed movie. Many things have been tried to said in this 2.4 hour movie. Priyadarshan’s comedy is commendable but all its hoots upon delivering a substantial movie has not materialized.

Many scenes are hilarious like the repair-and-paint part, and specially the roller road sequence. The punch lines are fantastic and so is Rajpal Yadav as a government official.

Akshay Kumar is surely looking different and has performed well. His girlfriend in the movie, Urvashi Sharma has acted weird. Being her first film, it is granted. But no excuses for Makrand Deshpandey.

Pritam has directed the music for the film, so at least that is one thing that the audience would want to listen to in the entire movie. Two of the songs have become pretty well loved lately including Nana Chi Tang.

The romantic streak is very weak. A flashback part shows Akshay Kumar as in his college time. This is one scene viewers would wish had been chopped off from the movie.

The ending of the movie is very unsatisfactory. And since there was no tale, obviously the end could not be made very powerful anyway.

The 6.6 billion rupee effort to preserve the country’s rich film heritage also seeks to rescue documentary footage of independence leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and India’s first prime minister Jawarharlal Nehru, the Times of India reports.

A total of 2,500 films have been earmarked for restoration, including 1,450 from the silent era, the newspaper cited a ministry source as saying.
Many of the prints have been lying in various film archives and societies around India and have decomposed over time due to neglect and wear and tear.

The film titles include classics such as Mrinal Sen’s Antareen (The Confined) Mani Kaul’s Nazar (Sight) and Bimal Roy’s Do Dooni Char (Two Twos are Four)

The well loved Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif will soon have a poem devoted to her written by renowned lyrist Javed Akhtar.

The poem will be a song written for Katrina on the lines of her character in Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’.

Fascinatingly in the flick ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, Katrina plays a lead character of a free-spirited bohemian girl who inspires the three men in the film to follow their dreams. The three main lead in the film includes Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol.

Fan’s poem inspires Zoya
Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif’s angelic face had inspired one of her fans to pen a poem on her beauty and charm.

After reading the poem posted on the Internet, Zoya Akhtar, the director of the film ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, came up with an thought to have a song specially written on Katrina’s character in the film. So, the filmmaker questioned her dad, Javed Akhtar, to write a special song on Katrina.

“There was only a vague thought for such a song in Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara. But when the poem by Katrina’s fan surfaced on the net everyone felt the lyrics describing Katrina’s character beauty and zest for life was needed.” added insiders about the song on Katrina.

Katrina the next dream girl of Bollywood?
Katrina Kaif will be donning a double role for the first time in the remake of the 70’s film ‘Seeta aur Geeta’. It looks like Katrina will be following the footsteps of the Bollywood dream girl Hema Malini.

The 70’s flick ‘Seeta aur Geeta’ was a box office hit. In the movie, Hema Malini played twin roles; one with character of a shy and modest girl and another of a wild and boisterous girl.

The legendary yesteryear’s actress, Hema Malini, was hugely appreciated for her performance in the flick.

Fascinatingly, it’s been rumored that Zoya is writing the script of the film which will be directed by Anees Bazmi.

Early reviews are in and most praise the film for being perfectly shot but are mixed on the acting, particularly Mr. Bachchan’s. American reviewers seem to like the film much more than Indian ones do. A separate Tamil version “”Raavanan” also opened today in which Vikram plays the role of the outlaw opposite Ms. Rai Bachchan. India Real Time presents a round-up:

U.S. entertainment trade publication Hollywood Reporter’s Ray Bennet describes “Raavan” as a “pan-Indian saga with epic sweep, intense emotion and gorgeous images.”

Cinematographers Manikandan and Santosh Sivan, production designer Samir Chanda and editor A. Sreekar Prasad come in for high praise. THR says they “serve Ratnam superbly with images, settings and vitality that take one’s breath away.”

Both Bachchans do well in their roles, THR says. Mr. Bachchan’s kidnaps the character played by his wife.

“Bachchan has fun with a character who is fierce, passionate and perilous but also comic in his self-doubt over whether to kill his captive or make like to her,” says Mr. Bennet, describing Ms. Rai Bachchan in this movie as “a force of nature.”

In this mini-review, the Guardian’s Cath Clarke, but, finds this a film of “innate sexism” and says Mr. Bachchan hams it up excessively in an “absurdly extravagant melodrama.”

On the web site India.com Mihir Fadnavis says the film is a crushing disappointment and gives it only two thumbs up out of a possible (if anatomically impossible) five thumbs.

“Mani Ratnam’s epic retelling of an ancient tale is amalgamated and cut to make a stylized but characterless piece with some spectacular imagery,” writes Mr. Fadnavis. “The film is too celebratory of Bollywood’s excellent guy-versus-terrible guy, buddy-buddy ethos to rise above the limitations of the genre, and too obsessed with its own seriousness to be a truly ’serious’ film.”

In another mini-review, the Los Angeles Times says “Raavan” belongs to Mr. Bachchan’s “exquisite real-life wife Aishwarya Rai” but laments that “it takes a couple of hours to learn whether Beauty can tame Beast.”

On Indian portal Rediff.com, Raja Sen is miserable with the way the film draws on the epic, saying Mr. Ratnam is excessively literal in his interpretation at times, and gives the film just two out of five stars.

Mr. Ratnam “takes a huge chunk of larger-than-life Indian mythology, sloppily swaps antagonist with protagonist, and ends up giving an earnest Bachchan far too much scenery to chew in far too much spotlight,” says Mr. Sen.

“It’s one thing to mask familiar characters with grimy grey, evoking empathy for the villain and giving the hero some flawed ambiguity,” he adds. “Here Ratnam falls prey to sensationalism and turns Raavan into a schizophrenic Robin Hood, and Ram into a bloodthirsty, consistently amoral cop.”

The New York Times’s Rachel Saltz is a small kinder, even if a few of her compliments are a small back-handed.

“The real star, though, is Mr. Ratnam, a talented visual storyteller who directs action crisply and fills the screen with striking images,” writes Ms. Saltz, “(One, of Ms. Bachchan’s falling body landing gracefully on a tree branch, is so excellent he uses it three times.).”

Said Aishwarya after the screening, “Just seeing their faces after the show Abhishek and I knew we could sleep in peace tonight.”

From Monday morning till Tuesday, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan went sleepless for more than 24 hours. Late on Monday night-Tuesday morning she attended family-friend Kirron Kher’s birthday party, and then headed for the airport to catch her flight to London for the premiere of Raavan.

When Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan walked in hand-in-hand at 2 in the morning to wish Kirron Kher a pleased birthday on Monday night everyone presumed they were sauntering in refreshed and rejuvenated.Fact is, they headed straight for the Khers from a series of media events in Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai because there was no way they’d miss Kirron’s birthday.

While Anupan Kher prefers to keep his distance Kirron who turned 55 on Monday is very close to the entire Bachchan parivar.Her son Sikandar is known to hang out with Abhishek who calls the youngster his younger brother.

Given a choice Kirron wouldn’t want any of the Bachchans to miss her birthday. This year the senior Bachchans are in Europe while Abhishek and Aishwarya are busy promoting Raavan and had made it clear that showing up for her birthday party was a near-impossiblity.

Says a source close to the couple, “Way past midnight the events and engagements for Raavan were still not over. But the couple chose that not dropping in for their Kirron Aunty’s birthday specially when the senior Bachchans are away, would have been improper and hurtful.”

Abhishek and Aishwarya therefore walked in hand in hand at 2 am to wish Kirron Kher, And the evening was still not over. After the party, the couple went to meet the Raavan crew a which was at a special screening of the film.

Says a family friend, “Aishwarya is very careful about her family duties. More so when Abhishek’s parents are out of town. She knew she and her husband were representing the Bachchans at Kirron’s party. She couldn’t miss it, although she went without food, rest or even a dress-change the whole day.”

Known to stretch the schedules beyond human endurance Aishwarya Rai Bachchan set a new record for herself over the past weekend in time management when she flew into Delhi on Sunday afternoon to join Abhishek media events, flew out of Delhi at 5 am solo on Monday morning to Hyderabad to join Vikram for media events for the Telugu version of Raavan, and flew back in the evening for more media interactions and Kirron Kher’s birthday.

Just before she left for London Aishwarya said, “It’s been a really really hectic time for both me and Abhishek.We’ve been running around trying to develop a new technology for time management. Sadly we don’t get time to spend together. That’s why this trip to London is precious. Because the entire family will be together for our film. That’s what I call bliss.”

Too many strings attached to this “Kites” that never soars to the heights it should and becomes a predictable tale of star-crossed lovers set in the glittering lights of Las Vegas and the brooding deserts of Mexico. It’s “Matchpoint”, “Bonny and Clyde” and much else rolled into one, failing to take off on its own.

The problem with “Kites” is that it is never truly its own film. The first half constantly takes you back to Woody Allen’s compelling “Matchpoint” with the doomed quartet of Jai (Hrithik), his girlfriend Gina (Kangana Ranaut), her brother Tony (Nick Brown) and his fiancée Natasha (Barbara).

Life is set to roll for the rakish, down and out Jai with Gina, the fabulously rich, hopelessly in like daughter of a Vegas casino owner, until he meets Natasha, the exotic Mexican immigrant also looking out for the excellent life. The attraction is inevitable – and fatal.

The pull is irresistible. Designer watches, flashy cars and jewels beckon but Jai and Natasha are caught in a relationship that transcends language. She knows no English and he knows no Spanish.

So far so excellent, before the script decides to meander into a “Bonny and Clyde” caper with the couple on the run from the powerful Tony robbing a bank. Completely unnecessary and giving no time for the intensity of the romance to develop.

The narrative moves back and forth in time, beginning with a bloodied Jai tumbling out of a train wagon and stumbling across the desertscape to look for his ladylove.

So you get a sense of what is in store. The predictability of the script is not really a problem – the opening line of the film lays the tenor, with Jai in a voiceover telling you that two kites flying together can never soar very high or very long because one has to get cut.

This is a chronicle of a tragedy foretold, much in the way of other epic romances. Dare I say Romeo Juliet!

It could have worked. The much talked about chemistry between the lead couple is in evidence, but not enough. Director Anurag Basu is at his best in the intimate scenes.

Like when Jai looks out of his window to see Natasha being roughed up by Tony and goes to comfort her. There are no words but the shadow play on the wall of their fingers intertwining is romance as it should be.

The soul of right like is there somewhere, but it gets lost in the two-hour film that also brings in murder, torture and gunmen galore. Basu seems lost in the larger macro frame of the film.

The two main characters are not fleshed out enough, and the others around them are like caricatures. How many Bobs (Kabir Bedi as the powerful, ruthless casino owner who does not balk at shooting down cheaters) have we seen, or Tonys, the archetypal jealous boyfriend with an army of goons behind him?

Many loosely scripted scenes as well and gaps that really should have been filled for a lucid narrative. A script doctor was terribly need to stitch up the loose ends.

But the superb cinematography of “Kites” that has the look of a truly international film, Rajesh Roshan’s lilting music — “Zindagi, zindagi” is right winner — and some heartwarming moments score.

Barbara Mori also strikes a chord, and she’s a real excellent looker. But the best for the last — Hrithik Roshan looks better than he has in any other film, and with him dominating virtually every frame, this one is a treat for his fans. Go swoon, if you must.
